Of all the kitchen appliances I own, I really think my return on investment is greatest with this one. I've had it a year now, so I'm no longer in the "honeymoon phase" with it - and I've really used it on average 3 times per week throughout the entire year.
I bought this after I wore out my cheaper version slow cooker, and I knew that this time I was willing to spend a little more money (since I knew how to use it), and I knew I wanted a larger capacity.
It's very easy to clean the removable crock, the settings available are warm, low, and high, and you can program (to within a half hour) the length of cook time. When cook time is up, the machine switches to warm on its own.
The capacity is such that I CAN fit 2 whole chickens in it, I can also cook 2 tri tip roasts (2.5 -3 lbs each) or one large pot roast, however the cooking is still even when the pot is not near full (i.e. I often cook only one chicken or one tri-tip, and the cook time is still about the same).
You can serve succulent meals from this - really delicious stews and roasts, but you will absolutely get a better result if you do a little prep work on the stove beforehand. For most recipes, that means 20-30 minutes in the morning or night before.
Many slow cooked meals are "wintery" type foods, however I found myself using it very often in the Summer as well, because I dread turning on my oven or slaving over a stove in the heat of July. With the slow cooker, very little heat is generated into the house, and the other bonus is you don't need to be home - so we often ate BBQ brisket or pulled pork sandwiches this Summer after cooking the meat in this slow cooker.
I recommend the Gourmet Slow Cooker by Lynn Alley to accompany this pot. If you're going to pay the price of this pot, treat yourself to a book of recipes you will feel proud to serve. Bon Appetit.
EDIT: I did have one of the little circular rubber feet at the bottom break (actually I think it melted) off. I took it back to the store where I bought it, expecting them to give me another little rubber foot, but they ended up replacing the entire apparatus. I didn't have a receipt, but they didn't bat an eye...said All-Clad will replace it without a problem. They told me that this had not happened to any others they knew of, and I've had no problem with the replacement.

Even with a busy schedule, you can still enjoy healthy, home-cooked meals thanks to this easy-to-use oval-shaped slow cooker. Simply add ingredients to the unit's black ceramic pot, insert the pot into the cooker, and set the 26-hour programmable timer. After a long day at work or a busy day of weekend errands, dinner will be ready and waiting. Perfect for soups, casseroles, pot roasts, curries, and more, its large 6-1/2-quart capacity works great for single-person meals with leftovers or for dinner with the family. Thoughtfully designed, the slow cooker also provides attractive stainless-steel housing; an integrated control panel with an LCD display; three temperature settings--high, low, and keep warm; a glass lid for keeping an eye on the cooking process; and riveted stainless-steel handles for safe transport. The ceramic insert and glass lid clean up easily by hand with hot soapy water or safely in the dishwasher. A recipe booklet comes included for getting started. The slow cooker measures 19-7/8 by 14 by 11-3/8 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.
