(More customer reviews)The black cast aluminum mailbox I received was high quality and looks great. Unfortunately, the installation instructions are very poorly written. To begin with, the post base must be secured with anchor (L shaped) bolts that are not included. I bought 3/8" x 8" anchor bolts at the local hardware store. I dug a hole to accommodate almost three bags of cement. I cut out a template for the post base so I could properly align the anchor bolts in the cement. When I buried the anchor bolts in the cement I gave the bolts a half turn to secure them in the cement. I made sure the poured cement was level at the top so the base would sit flat on the cement. Make sure the bolts are aligned so the "post front" faces the street.
A small bag of nuts and bolts are included which challenges you to a guessing game. The final challenge is figuring out how to install the red flag. The instructions point to a plug hole on the side of the cast aluminum mail box that doesn't exist. I ended up attaching the red flag to the door lid hinge opening. Otherwise be prepared to drill a hole through the cast aluminum top overhang and side wall. Their picture appears to show that the hole already exists.
Again the product looks great but the installation was frustrating.
