(More customer reviews)Purchased (2) of these 600W Lumatek/ 6" hood combos in Feb '11 for $411 each from Hydroponics Market - since then they have added the PH kit, and jacked the price up. I wasn't happy about the way these items were packed for shipping- they had placed the ballast box inside the hood, during shipping, the reflector was bent in one of the hoods. Can't blame hydrofarm for a careless distributor.
Regarding the product itself- I have been using now for several months and am pleased thus far. The Lumatek is quiet, and surprisingly produces minimal heat. Using a 6" inline fan, I am pushing air through both hoods and able to maintain temps without A/C. (Although I do have an 8" exhaust canfan on a thermostat). One slight drawback is the proprietary Hydrofarm lock & seal ballast connector, can't mix Hydrofarm with other manufacturer, unless you get a pigtail (S brand). Just buy your ballast/hood together, and you shouldn't have any problems.
