(More customer reviews)I ordered this door a week ago and it just arrived to my delight -- my fiancee and I just moved into a tiny 3rd story apartment and our kitty-box is out on the balcony. We thought there'd be less "smell" issues, as my cat's a stinky one. :) Well, long story short, we live in FLORIDA. Having this door seemed like a blessing, as we'd give Stinky maximum access to the facilities, and save ourselves way too much hassle opening and closing doors for him. The door is very simple to setup - you will need a drill and screw driver. Basically, it uses spring-tensioners to wedge itself between the frames. So vertically, it's great. On the sides, big fat raspberry. They provide a "glass sweep" which is a 1/4" thick strip of rubber. Its supposed to adhere to the moving panel and "seal" it to the stationary panels... lets just say I've bought Post-Its with stronger adhesive. Second, they provide "Weather Stripping" to place between the moving panel and your new Pet Door. It's about 1/4" thick too but compresses instantly and doesn't pop back much.. so it's next to worthless as well. Like I said, we live in FLORIDA so a tight seal is imperative if we don't want to pay thousands $$ to Lakeland Electric. Also, the pet-door flap itself is gapped, which allows a pretty good flow of air and is *def* big enough for all the creepy-crawlies out there. So I bought silicone sealant and thicker padding, and all is well! OH! Also. The locks are NOT heavy duty and you can't lock the "other" side of the pet door as far as I can tell, so if you're not in an above-ground unit or you're in a high-crime area -- be forewarned!
But all in all, if you're handy, this door is great. :) Just needs some fine-tuning.

The minuses: Only one speed and you need a tiny easily lost allen wrench to lock the tilt of the fan (it comes with the allen wrench).
Extended Summary:
I like the fan because it looks so cool and sleek and I will keep it, but I have some issues with it. It is not silent while running but the sound is a rather soothing soft white background noise of moving air. It has a wide breeze that is gentle from 6 feet away. The darkish grey blades are made out of fairly thick semi-firm rubber that won't cut fingers, so a fan guard isn't at all necessary. The blades are darker than they appear in the photos. The metal ring is die cast and nicely finished.
I have to admit that I expected more for the $139 I paid for it. Having to keep track of a very tiny allen wrench just to change the tilt lock seems an oversight in the design but it can be tilted upward at a fairly steep angle. Also, it really needs two speeds as having only one speed means it produces too much breeze to be placed close by on a desk though if you had a very warm office it would be fine. It is turned on and off with a clear plastic rocker switch that is on the cord about 8 inches away from the fan housing. The rocker switch seems sturdy, but it would have been much nicer to have a switch on the unit itself since the rocker switch sort of looks like an afterthought and detracts from the smooth clean appearance you are paying for with this unit.
Designed by black + blum (English/Swiss) but it is made in Taiwan according to a sticker on the bottom of it. I gave it three stars because of the need to use a tiny tool (that has no storage spot on the fan) to adjust the tilt lock and the lack of two speeds. It would have gotten 4 stars if those issues had not been present. Soleus Air makes a similar looking product for $30 but it isn't as svelte and artsy.

(More customer reviews)I've been looking for a porcelain over cast iron cook pot in this size for some time. I have a lot of Le Cruset, not just dutch ovens but other products as well, and one Staub dutch oven. These are the real work horses of my kitchen.
I love the black interior which requires less care than the white porcelain of Le Cruset. This is a good size to use as a steamer, a casserole, or a pot to reheat in. It's not large enough to act as a stock pot or soup pot, but it works well for reheating soup. And the yellow is a clear bright pretty yellow. The price was very good, and the package arrived very shortly after my order was placed.

(More customer reviews)I received the chairs today and am pleased with the way they look. I also love how light yet how sturdy they are. However, they do not come fully assembled as the description states. The foot rests on the sides of the chairs have to be put on and on one chair, the screw holes didn't line up exactly right. Still, for the money (considering I needed 10 to go around our outside kitchen/bar) they are a definitely a good buy.
I have purchased other Strathwood products (chaises, side tables, the 48 inch round table, and four swivel chairs.) This stuff looks like it cost much more - a "Frontgate" look for a fraction of the price. The cushions on the chairs are kind of cheap but as an interior designer, I can have cushions made easily enough. I don't love the off white fabric on any of these pieces, but do love the "bones" of the Strathwood furniture and have recommended it to clients. Once recovered in a better material, I know I will get many, many years of use. This may not be practical for some people so I thought I should make mention of this. To me, the fabric is the only real negative.

Weber 751001 22.5-Inch One-Touch Gold Charcoal Grill, Black Review

(More customer reviews)When it came time for us to get a new charcoal grill I searched every site and checked out dozens of different grills, some costing many hundreds of dollars, all promising some advantage.
Some units were really interesting, and not too expensive, but upon close inspection many of these proved to be tinny and cheaply made. The very expensive systems were very nice, but did not offer rotisseries and other useful accessories and were just too expensive for us anyway.
So, we ended up with another Weber, the Gold Model. In the many years since our last Weber, there have been a lot of improvements that kept it attractive. The ash catcher really does make cleanup much easier and the vent system is more functional. The grill itself has the new flip-up hatches that allow you to add more coals and move them around without having to lift up the grill. I did that all the time with the old grill.
The optional little bent-wire style of charcoal retainers do help to keep the coals out to the side when you want to use a drip pan in the center.
Others have recommended the chimney style charcoal start for ecological reasons. It is also just plain faster to use as well, and it is made of heavy gauge metal that is both attractive and long-lasting.
I love the optional rotisserie (see those reviews) and it comes with an extension ring that is also useful for other cooking options.
We got the green colored kettle and it looks very nice on the patio. The general design and those odd white-wall tires give it a kind of vintage look.
This is a well-made and very functional grill with all sorts of interesting available accessories that really work well. There is a reason for the popularity of the Weber. I looked, I bought. Hard to beat.

(More customer reviews)I learned how to iron in the Army, putting creases on my uniforms each Sunday night before I go to work. And I was pretty good at it. But I always thought there had to be a better way. This is a great product and I imagine as an appliance, one is probably comparable to the other, the difference being price and features.
The trick, and perhaps the reason for some negative reviews is that folks seem to expect it to be similar to hand ironing. It is not. You need to develop a new process, tackle your clothes differently. I suggest three things:
1. Think in big chunks. Remember the hand iron is small and most of us who can iron think in small areas. This appliance will tackle much bigger areas. And it will iron both sides at once - don't stress yourself about flipping things over - spend time instead on smoothing out the wrinkles and then simply drop the handle, hit a bolt or two of steam. Be patient, the skills will come.
2. Let it warm up - I plug it in, turn it on and putter a bit, gathering laundry and prepping my clothes. I set it up on my old ironing board and then simply lower it down so I can sit at the couch and iron while watching the evening news.
3. Practice, practice, practice. If you have a garment that absolutely must be ironed perfectly for a meeting in an hour - and you have never used this press before - then you will be disappointed. I suggest practice placing items on it while it is unplugged and cold - you will quickly get the hang of it. When first trying it out, iron a few old shirts, pants or dresses to get the hang of it. Then jump in. In a few short attempts at ironing you will quickly master the new skill and find that indeed ironing is no longer a task that lasts hours and hours.
I can get a week's work of ironing in just a little over an hour and now I can put a nice starched shirt on and grab a pair of creased pants for my corporate executive job - and I don't pay the dry cleaner to do it anymore.

The color is beautiful (we chose the bronze finish with white bronze trim). It goes well with our contemporary beige house. The only problem is we cannot find contrasting numbers to put on the post that would match the style, finish, and quality.

great quality and clean up is easy...pans stay true red and i don't see any cooking stains on the pans yet.

Camp Chef Sport Utility ATS-50T Aluminum Table Top Sport Stove, Black/Aluminum Review

(More customer reviews)I've used the older model of this stove previously and had been very impressed. This lighter weight, updated version should have been even better. However its design is highly problematic and I ended up returning it. Thanks to Amazon's great return policy I didn't even have to pay to ship it back (since the stove was dysfunctional from the start). The two problems I encountered was a pressure regulator safety device that was so sensitive it was very tricky to even get the stove to light. Camp Chef ended up sending me a new regulator, which worked better, though was still rather sensitive.
The second problem was worse, and I suspect due to a design issue. After the burner was lit and on high for a minute or two, and then lowered to a low setting the flame would initially go low, as expected, but then all of sudden the flame would practically disappear, and the burner would begin to roar very loudly, like a minature jet engine. The burner plate would then turn bright orange, brighter than if the burner was even set to high. At the same time I would occasionally see a flame jump into the gas feed tube. Kinda scary. Note - Camp Chef support staff had no explanation for what was causing this problem.
I know these are supposed to be great stoves, so I am going to try their cast iron burner model, since I believe its an older, and more established design.
Oh yeah, one more thing, this stove puts out 20k btu, not 25k as described.

Kuhn Rikon 3043 Duromatic 6.3-Quart (6-Liter) Stockpot Pressure Cooker Review

(More customer reviews)I am extremely pleased with this item. I learned how to pressure cook with this pot, and now I can have osso buco ready in well under an hour; and I actually prefer it done in the pressure cooker!
Get a Lorna Sass cookbook and go to town with this baby. My only caveat: I usually cook for just two or three, and the size of this pot is fine for that. Most recipes are written for a six quart pressure cooker anyway. Still, there are a few times I wish the cooker was a little bigger so I could cook a larger volume--making stock, for instance, or making a big batch of chili.
If you're cooking for more than a few, you might consider the 8 qt model. That's not a criticism of this pot at all--I wouldn't part with it. It's a tool in my kitchen which I use often, sometimes several times a week. Highly recommended.

All-Clad Master Chef 2 4-Quart Sauteuse Pan Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this pan because it is made in the USA & my teflon dutch oven needed to be replaced. Compared to the saute pan, the sauteuse pan is easier for me to store because it doesn't have a long handle on it; I also like the domed lid. I have always cooked using non-stick pans so this will take some getting used to. I haven't burned any food in it yet, but have had some stuck on food. I heated a little water in the pan and used some elbow grease to get the pan clean. Don't use a metal scrubber (like I did) on the inside because it will scratch the shiny finish. I'm going to purchase some Bar Keeper's Friend to clean it the next time.
I will be using the tips B. C. Specht mentioned in her 2003 Amazon review of the All-Clad MC2 saute pan.

The inside of the pan is stainless steel. The outside has a brushed aluminum finish which must be the reason the description says it's gray. I can't say that it's pretty, but it looks okay. The lid and inside of the pan are shiny. Because of the aluminum, you shouldn't put this pan in a dishwasher; the aluminum will turn an ugly, dark spotty color; ask me how I know. :( [I spent a very long time using Barkeeper's Friend on the outside of the pan trying to get its pretty finish back after letting the pan go through the dishwasher's full cycle. My pan looks better than it did, but I wasn't able to restore it to its original color] Lesson learned...I won't do it again. The stainless steel lid is dishwasher safe.
Both the sides and bottom of this All-Clad MC2 pan heat very evenly. I'm using it on a glass top stove.
I plan on using this pan for most of my cooking from frying to steaming. I love the the fact that the when I fry in it the sides are somewhat high which helps to prevent splattering. I also like the fact that the sides don't slope so I have a more useful cooking area. Of course, this pan can be used in the oven, as well as, on the top of the range.
*update: I just read the box and found out the pan is made in the USA and the lid is made in China.
